Gay Wedding Budget
Your gay wedding budget or lesbian wedding budget is probably the very first thing you should think about after, of course, you both agree that you want to spend the rest of your lives together.
When you think of the average wedding costs that figure is an astonishing $15,000 to $20,000!
I say astonishing, because I'm just not the type to spend that much money for a 1 day event! I know, I know, you're thinking "but Carey, it's a lifetime event!" And I'll say "No, your commitment to one another is a lifetime event, your wedding, however, is a 1-day event
But anyway, I'm outnumbered in this department and most couples dream of that big, fabulous wedding day!
So how do you break down your budget of $15,000 to $20,000? Or actually, any budget amount for that matter.
Here is the breakdown for how you should spend your money for your gay and lesbian wedding:
Reception 50%
Phtography/Videography 10%
Attire 10%
Music 10%
Flowers 10%
Invitations/Postage 4%
All Other Expenses 6%
Now that is just a rough breakdown for your gay wedding budget or your lesbian wedding budget. Remember, this is not an exact science. There are no gay or lesbian wedding police that come around and say "Hey, you didn't spend 10% of your wedding budget on flowers!"
You may want to splurge in one category and that's fine. You'll just have to figure out which other categories that money is coming from and adjust your percentages accordingly. It's YOUR day afterall, so remember you can adjust your gay wedding budget or lesbian wedding budget any which way you see fit.
Don't forget to take into account your honeymoon!!!! You have to figure out if your budgeted amount includes your honeymoon costs or not? If so, you may decide you to spend more money on your honeymoon then on your gay or lesbian wedding. And that is ok. Just remember to adjust your figures accordingly because everyone has to get paid. Unless of course, you figure out how to plan your gay wedding on a shoestring budget.
